Brain-Stretchin’, Body Movin’ Christmas ideas (Can you tell I’m the mother of ALL boys?!?!)

10 Nov

I’m pulling these two posts out of the archives! Are you looking for some educational, fun-filled toy options for your kiddo or grandkiddo this Christmas?!??! Here you go. 🙂

The first post is a list of some favorite, favorite, favorite games that our family enjoys. Yes, we have 3 boys, so yes, many of these involve being ACTIVE (but not all of them!).

The second post is another great list of Christmas gift ideas for kiddos from one of my FAVORITE blogs, Orange Marmalade.

Shut the BoxOne other addition to the list! My friend introduced us to “Shut the Box” as a fun way to reinforce addition facts. My sons love it, and this game is how our 3 year old learned number recognition. You roll the dice and have to add them up. You then have to knock down numbers on the board that add up to that number. For example, if you rolled a 12, you could knock down a 10 & 2, 1, 3 & 8, etc. The goal is the “shut the box” which means knocking down all 12 of the numbers. It’s a great addition reinforcement….without them realizing their practicing math. It’s currently half price at Amazon ($10), which is cheaper than I found it when we got ours. 😦

A couple of other posts to check out for purposeful gift ideas for kids:
