Another Week 19 documentary

1 Mar

I posted a whole host of Week 19 resources last week, and I stumbled on another one that I wanted to share. 🙂

IMAX Deep Sea: I found another great Ocean documentary this week! For you folks who are Amazon Prime-ers, it’s free! YAY! It was well done, geared for children and an amazing look into the legion of species, great and small, filling the oceans. We also had some great dialog during the movie identifying different groups invertebrates (as a review from way back in Week 5!)  Plus, Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet narrate it, so if you want to re-live Edward Scissorhands or Titanic (well, at least the voices) while watching an educational movie, this one’s for you! Ha! We enjoyed this one!

Seas of Life (Episode 2, The Deep)-I mentioned this series in last week’s post. We watched episode 2, The Deep, this morning, and it was fascinating! It highlighted the unique, unbelievable, G0d-is-amazingly-creative animals living in “the deep.” The boys and I had great dialog about the Bathyl and Abyssal ocean zones before and after the movie.

If you’re not an Amazon Prime person, one of my readers told me that she was able to find some of these on Netflix. You might hit the jackpot there! 🙂 Also, you probably will want to preview any and all documentaries before you let your kiddos watch them just to make sure they’re suitable for your family.

Between the books we’ve read and documentaries that we’ve watched this week, we’ve had a great week of learning about the ocean zones. I can’t believe how much I’ve learned personally! I probably learn just as much–if not more–than my boys do each week!

Enjoy learning with your kiddos this week!

So now I have more reasons to lurk. . .we just got Amazon Prime. I’ve used several of your book suggestions and we watched the IMAX ocean video today. Great resource suggestions!

Thank you, Danielle for your sweet comments! Girl..you’re not lurking! Thankful that you stop by! Wasn’t the IMAX video wonderful!?!?! We loved it!! Glad to hear that the suggestions have been useful and helpful. 🙂 One other Amazon Prime favorite–totally unrelated to CC–is the original Dennis the Menace TV series. All seasons and episodes are free with Amazon Prime. I LOVED the show when I was a child, and it’s been so fun introducing my boys to it. I LOVE when they watch the episodes; they cackle VERY LOUDLY! I love their laughter filling our home! It’s just too cute! If I find any other “jewels,” I’ll definitely pass them along! 🙂 Blessings!

😉 My son was still talking about the IMAX video a few days later.
I bet my kids would like Dennis the Menace also. If you have Netflix, check out Oscar’s Oasis. I haven’t looked for it on Amazon yet. It’s kind of a modern Roadrunner and Coyote. We all enjoy that one, although not at all related to CC.

Thanks for the amazon prime references. I just recently found some of these on my own, but I felt like it took forever to find something I wanted to watch.
